A functional approach to the structural complexity of coral assemblages based on colony morphological features
This study shows an overall functional erosion of the coral assemblage after disturbance and suggest that the role of the coral reef habitat could be strongly imperiled under repeated or synergistic disturbances. This approach offers an opportunity for a better understanding of coral responses to natural and anthropogenic disturbances.

Geographical variations in bacterial communities associated with soft coral Scleronephthya gracillum
Bacterial communities associated with the soft coral S. gracillimum differed among study sites in Korea, Japan, and Taiwan. These biogeographic differences in bacterial composition mat have been due contrasted environmental conditions among study locations, or because of host responses to prevailing environmental conditions. Overall, this study provides a baseline for future studies of soft coral microbiomes, and functional assessment host metabolites and soft coral holobionts.

Shifting communities after typhoon damage on an upper mesophotic reef in Okinawa, Japan
This study investigates the long-term community dynamics of damage from Typhoon 17 (Jelawat) in 2012 on the coral community of the upper mesophotic Ryugu Reef in Okinawa, Japan.

A new association between goblet worms (Entoprocta) and xeniids corals (Cnidaria)
In addition of reporting the first member of the phylum Entoprocta in Taiwan, this new discovery increases the known diversity of the associated fauna of octocorals
